Shigesato Itoi

Copywriter
Became one of the defining voices of Japanese advertising in the 1970s and 80s, known for landmark campaigns including Seibu Department Store’s “Oishii Seikatsu.” In 1989, he founded the game company Ape Inc. and produced the cult role-playing series MOTHER for Nintendo. Founder and President of Hobonichi Itoi Shinbun.
Best known for the MOTHER role-playing game series, the Seibu campaign “Oishii Seikatsu,” and tagline copy for Studio Ghibli films including My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Princess Mononoke.
