A pioneer of mechanical design in Japan, and one of the figures who established the field of robot and mecha design in animation.
Best known for designing the mobile suits of Mobile Suit Gundam. His designs, beginning with Gundam, have shaped the history of Japanese animation and the culture of robot anime.
